Dwivedi, the General Secretary, Bioved Research Scoiety, Allahabad, compiled a monumental work in Five Volumes, entitled ‘Survey of Researches in Life Sciences’. The said work incorporated contributions of various ‘Life Science’ workers, the Vol. I and II being purely devoted to Nematology, III and IV to Animal Sciences (Entomology, Fish and Fisheries, Parasitology, Cytology etc.) and Vol. V to Plant Sciences. The Vol. IV (1993) also included the profile of a worker (SK Gupta) from a Post-graduate College [Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru College], imparting education to a district (Banda, Uttar Pradesh) in the backward area of Bundelkhand region. Obviously, with limited resources available, a considerable amount of work was done on the Fishes of Banda District, recording about 86 species [published in the first full length paper entitled ‘Fish Fisheries of Banda district’, way back in 1977].
